Kung Paano Ako Naging Leading Lady (comics) by Carlo Vergara and Elmer Cantada (back to comics #3)
As I continued on my "back to comics" journey, #3 on my list was Kung Paano Ako Naging Leading Lady, a comics adaptation of the one-act play by Carlo Vergara and illustrated by Elmer Cantada.
At first, I thought it would be a plot involving the theatre or showbiz industry; however, the story revolved around a hardworking helper, Mely, who was working for a group of elite superheroes.
Issues on sibling rivalry, unemployment, love problems, hope, and betrayal were covered in this 72-page comic book, and I admired how all of these were presented in just one scenario. I got to digest every bit of it with full appreciation of the work.
I also liked how it came out hilarious in some ways while tackling serious problems. Those panels were really good that I was literally laughing out loud.
Reading the comics, I was anticipating how Mely would become a Leading Lady. I was waiting for the typical rags to riches scenario, from being a maid to a well-known actress, but I was given beyond what I was expecting. I was given a far excellent closing of the act.
A Leading Lady with a deeper cause.
I like it. :)
